Hi, I’m Kelley!
I’m the owner and director of Kelley Puckett Dance Academy (KPDA), and I’ve dedicated my career to creating a positive, encouraging environment where dancers can grow in confidence, technique, artistry, and most importantly, their love of dance.
I am an active member of Dance Masters of the Bluegrass and Dance Masters of America and hold certifications through the organization. Continuing my own education has always been incredibly important to me, and I have attended Dance Masters of America Teacher Training School in Buffalo, NY to further my knowledge of dance education, technique, and effective teaching practices.
I am also a certified Alixa Flexibility instructor, Acrobatic Arts instructor, and Progressing Ballet Technique (PBT)instructor. These specialized certifications allow me to incorporate safe and effective methods for developing flexibility, strength, alignment, technique, and body awareness into my teaching.
Throughout my career, I’ve had the opportunity to work with dancers of all ages and levels.From little ones walking into their very first dance class to advanced competitive dancers preparing to take the stage. In addition to teaching and directing KPDA, I have extensive experience in choreography and competitive dance and also serve as a dance competition adjudicator.
My teaching philosophy has always been about so much more than learning steps. I want my dancers to be challenged and held to a high standard, while also knowing that they are supported, valued, and encouraged. I believe dance can teach confidence, discipline, resilience, responsibility, and so many lessons that extend far beyond the studio.
Most of all, I want my students to experience the same joy and connection to dance that I felt growing up. My goal for KPDA has always been to create a place where dancers can discover what they’re capable of, feel proud of who they are becoming, and develop a love for dance that stays with them long after they leave the studio.
